Silent Classics Ltd — Terms & Conditions

Last updated · 2026 · Governing law: United Kingdom

1. Nature of Service & Process

  • Services Provided: Silent Classics Ltd provides electric vehicle (EV) conversions, conversion parts, custom design and manufacturing, vehicle restoration, and specialist engineering services.
  • Schedule of Works: The Customer will be notified in writing of the specification of services, including any agreed-upon adjustments. Minor changes may be confirmed verbally or via email.
  • Estimates & Quotations: Due to the nature of specialist vehicles, estimates and quotations are subject to change. Estimates remain valid for 30 days from the date of issue. Travel time and mileage charges may apply for off-site visits.
  • Project Timeframes: Any specified timeframe (verbal or written) is a guide only and may change due to unforeseen circumstances or workshop scheduling. The Customer will be kept informed of significant delays.

2. Vehicle Characteristics & Heritage Expectations

  • Nature of the Conversion: The Customer acknowledges that converting a classic vehicle to electric propulsion does not transform it into a "modern" or "new" car. While the powertrain is updated, the vehicle remains a classic car at its core.
  • Mechanical Integrity: The vehicle retains its original chassis, suspension, steering, and braking systems unless otherwise specified in the scope of work. Consequently, the vehicle will continue to exhibit the handling, ride quality, and NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) levels characteristic of its original era.
  • Absence of Modern Features: Unlike modern production EVs, the converted vehicle may not feature modern safety systems (e.g., ABS, airbags, crumple zones), power-assisted steering, modern sound insulation, or advanced climate control unless explicitly retrofitted.
  • Operational Nuances: Clients should expect "classic car" quirks, including manual window regulators, wind noise at speed, and the tactile feedback of vintage components.

3. Performance & Roadworthiness

  • Performance Estimates: Estimates of range, top speed, acceleration, and charge time are based on prior experience and are subject to variation. Final performance may differ due to factors beyond Silent Classics Ltd's control.
  • Roadworthiness: Customers should always refer to DVSA-registered MOT testing stations for assessments. All vehicles, regardless of age, should undergo annual MOT tests. It is the Customer's responsibility to ensure the vehicle meets DVSA standards.

4. Billing, Payments & Storage

  • Late Payments: Invoices not paid within 30 days of the due date incur interest at a rate of 8% per annum plus the Bank of England base rate.
  • Extended Non-Payment: If an invoice remains unpaid for 180 days or more, Silent Classics Ltd reserves the right to recover costs, which may include selling the vehicle or removing components after written notice.
  • Storage Fees: Complimentary storage is provided for up to 14 days before and after project completion. Beyond this, a storage fee of £48.00 per week applies.

5. Liability & Warranty

EV Conversion Kits

  1. Installer Competence & Liability: Customers installing Silent Classics' systems must be High Voltage (HV) trained and assume full responsibility for the safe installation and operation of the equipment. Silent Classics Ltd is not liable for damages, injuries, or component failures arising from improper installation, lack of certified training, or insufficient maintenance.
  2. Donor Vehicle Suitability: Our Conversion Kits are precision-engineered to fit donor vehicles that conform to original factory dimensions and specifications. It is the Customer's sole responsibility to ensure the donor vehicle is in suitable condition prior to installation. Silent Classics Ltd does not guarantee fitment, nor accept liability for installation failures, on vehicles that have been subject to:
    • Substandard repairs: This includes poor-quality welding, non-factory chassis patches, or "botched" structural modifications.
    • Accident damage: Any structural distortion or misalignment resulting from previous crash damage.
    • Excessive corrosion: Where mounting points or structural integrity have been compromised.
    • Any additional labour, fabrication, or modification required to fit the kit to a vehicle with these defects is the sole responsibility and expense of the Customer.

Warranty & Guarantee

  • Product Quality: All components are guaranteed according to manufacturer specifications. In the event of a proven defect accepted by the manufacturer, Silent Classics Ltd reserves the right to replace or credit the item at our discretion.
  • Workmanship: We provide a 12-month warranty on all installation and workmanship.
  • Terms: Please be advised that this warranty is strictly void if the systems are tampered with, modified, or repaired by unauthorized parties.
  • Limitations: Silent Classics Ltd does not accept liability for consequential losses or unauthorized repairs. We are not liable for pre-existing faults, rust, or damage uncovered during the work process.
  • Customer-Supplied Parts: No performance or safety guarantee is provided for customer-supplied batteries, motors, or components.

6. Intellectual Property & Media

  • IP Rights: All technology, systems, and designs implemented remain the intellectual property of Silent Classics Ltd. Reproduction or reverse-engineering is strictly prohibited.
  • Media Usage: Silent Classics Ltd may feature Customer vehicles in photography or video for marketing and social media. Customers wishing to opt out must notify us at the start of the project.

7. International Sales & Local Regulatory Compliance

  • Client Responsibility for Local Regulations: Silent Classics Ltd provides EV conversion kits and components designed to meet or exceed general engineering safety standards. However, the Customer acknowledges that automotive regulations, including those for electric vehicle conversions, registration, and roadworthiness, vary significantly by country and region.
  • Verification of Law: For all orders placed or delivered outside of the United Kingdom, it is the sole responsibility of the Customer to research, understand, and comply with the specific laws, technical standards, and vehicle approval requirements of their local jurisdiction.
  • Limitation of Liability: Silent Classics Ltd shall not be held liable for any loss, damage, or legal penalties arising from the Customer's failure to comply with local laws. We provide no guarantee that our kits are "pre-approved" for use on public roads in any jurisdiction outside of the United Kingdom. The Customer assumes all risks associated with installing and operating a kit that may not be approved for their specific region.

8. Governing Law

  • Jurisdiction: These Terms & Conditions are governed by UK law.
  • Dispute Resolution: Disputes should first be resolved informally. If no resolution is reached, the matter will be handled by a UK court or arbitration service.

9. Refunds

  • Refundable Kit Deposits: Any deposit placed to secure an EV conversion kit is fully refundable for a strict period of 10 days from the date the deposit payment is received.
  • Expiration: Once the 10-day period has elapsed, the deposit becomes non-refundable to cover administrative, scheduling, and component allocation costs.
